I modified your repack script to install the license for 5520 but that doesn't work...
If you want it anyway:

Code:
      xxd -r -g 2 -c 16 - asa/bin/lina <<END
05653e0: 7dfc 8b7d 0c89 5df4 b801 0000 0083 f811
08cbe20: 78ff 85c0 9090 9090 9090 be0a 0000 00e8
187df7c: 4153 4120 3535 3230 0043 0043 6973 636f
END

Greetings.

Here's a repack script (preliminary version for testing only) that patches ASA 8.2(5) in a couple of places to make it run under VMware. The virtual ASA runs properly and appears to be fully operational, but further work needs to be done.

Here's output from the virtual serial port:

ciscoasa# sh ver

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.2(5)

Compiled on Fri 20-May-11 16:00 by builders
System image file is "Unknown, monitor mode tftp booted image"
Config file at boot was "startup-config"

ciscoasa up 42 secs

Hardware: F1-GENERIC, 1024 MB RAM, CPU Pentium II 2400 MHz
Internal ATA Compact Flash, 256MB
BIOS Flash unknown @ 0x0, 0KB

** Note: You will need to use this activation key to enable features.

Please provide feedback on usability and any issues you run across. Despite the 'show ver' looking more like a PIX platform than an ASA, all ASA features appear to be available.

I don't seem to be able to get it to work...

I followed DMZ tutorial on how to make a VMWare machine for ASA:
http://7200emu.hacki.at/viewtopic.php?t=9074&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=105

but nothing happened once I am passed the grub menu

I really don't know how to debug this...

Many thanks for your help
