Gurus,

Was anybody able to get dynamips/dynagen work on Leopard beta seeds?

the current binaries will not execute.

Could someone complile a new package or at least point me to the source code and some hints on how to re-compile?

Many Thanks.

I was able to compile a new 0.2.8-RC1 dynamips binary which worked in my Leopard 9a527 build.

I used David Sudjiman's instructions while replacing 0.2.7 by 0.2.8-RC1

http://www.davidsudjiman.info/?p=167

Thanks David anf Greg for the useful tips.

I am posting the compiled binary.

I will try to compile a new binary for Dynagen 0.10.1 as well, and maybe build a new dmg

Tamer Ramzy

No change needed to the original Dynagen binary. It works natively in Leopard.

Now i have everything working fine.

Hi tihab,

if I have understood you right, then it is not necessary to compile the source again in leopard. So we can use the current tiger packets.

Thanks

You will need to recompile dynamips only, or use the compiled binary i posted. I have tested it in both beta versions of Leopard (9A527/528d and 9A559).

Unfortunately this binary compiled under Leopard also does not run under Tiger. So two different binaries will need to be maintained for a while. And after I upgrade to Leopard today, I won't be able to produce Tiger binaries.

Say it aint so Greg! I just bought my first Mac a few months back and had no intention of upgrading anytime soon (upgrading to Vista put me off of being an early adopter of OS!). I only bought my Mac to run Dynamips, so the upgrade is money down the drain.

I'm likely way too low-tech when it comes to anything outside of the networking world to be able to do this on your behalf, but surely someone can step forward and produce Tiger binaries as we get new releases? If not, I'll do whatever it takes to be your Tiger binary surrogate...

I'm sure someone will volunteer to compile Tiger binaries and either post them to the board, or get them to me so I can include them in a DMG....

I just installed the latest dynamips package for Mac and I get this error when running the server.
sudo: unable to execute /Applications/Dynagen/dynamips: Bad executable (or shared library)

SO far, Dynamips does not work me in Leopard GM

Just download the compiled leopard dynamips file from this thread, and overwrite the original dynamips binary.

I downloaded dynamips-0.2.8-RC1.intel-mac.bin posted in this forum, and placed it in the /usr/local/bin directory.

I downloaded the latest dynamips/dynagen OSX package and copied the dynagen folder into the applications directory as suggested.

I then attempted to run the "Dynamips Server" app, but I get this error.

sudo: unable to execute /Applications/Dynagen/dynamips: Bad executable (or shared library)

Any ideas?

It doesn't go in /usr/local/bin but in the directory of the original Dynamips/Dynagen that you installed from the disk image. You need to replace the original compiled binary with newly compiled Leopard binary.

Please take a look at my attachment. I moved the bin to same directory, but I still get the error message.

Thanks for your help.

The Apple Script "Dynamips Server" references the original file called "dynamips" (you can see that in the terminal).

So in order to get it up and running, you could rename the original "dynamips" to something like "dynamips.orig" and then rename the binary you have downloaded (dynamips-0.2.8.RC1.intel-mac.bin) to "dynamips".

From the command line it could be somthing like:

Code:

sudo cp /[path]/dynamips /[path]/dynamips.orig
sudo cp /[path]/dynamips-0.2.8.RC1.intel-mac.bin /[path]/dynamips
