I held (and still hold) multiple certifications from Cisco as well as other companies and decided not to take part in that game anymore.  I will take tests only if they are absolutely necessary for my job.

I took my first test in 1998 and already had problems then undestanding why I had to know commands by heart to prove that I have a certain understanding about a certain topic. But in the last couple of years the tests became more and more rediculous. Wrong questions, wrong answers and no possibility to complain  to anybody because it's nobodys responsibility. In an instructor forum somebody made the assumption that the person responsible for the questions asks the intern to get him some coffee and mentions on the side that he needs 40 questions to a specific topic. Sounds resonable to me. Just tale a look at the screenshots within the tests - those prove that those had to be created by some incompetent person.

Beside that 300, 350 or even more than 400 Euros for those tests are simply a joke.

If anybody really wants to know whether I am competent in a certain area of expertise - just contact me and I will convince them that I am.
